Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star!

I have been a very, very lazy hooker recently, so sorry for the lack of posts. (I promise to one day make it up to you, I don't know how, I don't know when, but I will find you and make it up to you)

The past few nights I have been flicking through my new book, 500 Crochet Blocks (great book) and I stumbled across the stars, as a result I have fallen in love with the easy pattern. I have previously looked at stars and bunting with stars on Pinterest, but I've always shied away from trying them for one reason or another. So Saturday, I decided to just go for it, and since then that's all I've really done.

I love this Anchor sparkly yarn. Perfect for stars!

This little fella didn't survive :c
His little arm came off :'c

Do excuse this out of focus picture, but I really, really love it.

The book is a totally brilliant book- great for those just beginning crochet or even for those who want to learn a few more stitches and techniques. I got mine from John Lewis, £9.99, and it is worth the buy. It's not just full of blocks/squares, but as you can tell little motifs too. Each pattern has a variation of colours and other ways you can use each base pattern to create something new.

Crochet Flowers

Happy Monday!

It's been a very tiring weekend at home and I've managed to squeeze in a little bit of crochet for my garland WIP.
I decided that little daisy flowers would go lovely with my garland of hearts, bringing some of the beauty of the outdoors, indoors.

This little cutie was made with tatting/crochet cotton #10 and embroidery floss for the petals. The pattern from Skip To My Lou is super, super easy to follow and as you can see the results are amazing! Personally I believe this sort of pattern would look better in a thin cotton rather than yarn, especially for a garland like mine.

With a few more crochet hearts and a few more daisies, I think I will have some beautiful garlands for Spring.

Crochet hearts

Valentine's day is just around the corner, and inspired by all the baby news at my work place I decided to crochet some little cute hearts. Once all the translation biz was dealt with, they're pretty easy to make if you follow this pattern and video.

I think these are adorable and will definitely be making more! For these three I used ordinary embroidery thread as I didn't have the right thickness of yarn, but they work just as good. As soon as I can I'll pop to my local craft shop, pick up some more thread in these colours and make a lovely garland to hang. They are just perfect!
